The package from Diane arrived safe. She made me an adorable recipe book that I just love. She included in the package an antique pie carrier that has been in her family for years. She sent that for Bob since he's the pie maker in the family. However, it is going to be displayed in my kitchen to be admired by all who come to visit.
Bob and I drove two and a half hours to take a sleigh ride one Sunday. When we arrived, it had been postponed until the following Sunday, because it was so cold. We weren't able to come back the following week. We did enjoy taking a look at the horses. Bob's dream is to have two draft horses of his own some day so he can take the grandchildren for a sleigh ride when they come to visit at Christmas time. (Yes, Bob is still growing his beard.)
Our baby chicks are all grown-up now. Here is one of the hens. We are getting six to eight eggs everyday. 
Madeline is taking violin lessons and she brought her violin over to Ryan and Lisa's house one weekend to give us a little concert. (Just a little peek at Ryan and Lisa's new house - it's really cute)
When Natalie and Adam were here to visit, we celebrated Adam's birthday (a week early). It was so much fun having Natalie and Adam come to visit. Ryan and Lisa and the children and Shannon and Madeline all came over for the weekend. It was great!
We have also had two Bible workers staying with us this month. They have been helping prepare for the evangelistic meetings that will be starting the end of March. Next week they will be leaving for Rochester.
The two big maple trees in front of our house had to come down this winter. Now we won't have to buy firewood for next year's heat. 
We did have to buy a chainsaw though. Bob has a small chainsaw that works just fine, but his bigger one died and would have cost too much to have it repaired. He bought it used in 1972. I think he got his money's worth out of it.
I have been off work all week and I love being at home. I've actually accomplished quite a bit. Today I made this "Little House on the Prairie" dress and bonnet for Gracie. It looks kinda big, but the pattern is a 3-4 size. I still have Hannah's and Madeline's to make. I had originally planned to make these for the girls for Christmas, but that didn't happen. The girls enjoy playing like they are Mary, Laura, and Carrie on Little House on the Prairie. I can't wait to see their faces when I give them their dresses and bonnets. (first I have to finish the other two dresses and bonnets)

Too bad the trees were maple since you tap the trees for syrup making. Nice though that you won't have to buy firewood for next winter.
I'd say that the 1972 used chain saw more than paid for itself.
The dress and bonnet are adorable. Just think how sweet the girls will look in their matching dresses. Cute for Easter.

The bonnet and dress are precious! I'm sure your Grands will be thrilled. Hope to see pics of them dressed up, they must be very sweet when they're playing their Little House parts.

Glad you're blogging again. You're not very good about filling in details on the phone, so I'd probably never know what's going on with you, if not for blogging! (For instance, you never mentioned you had a week off, or had 2 people living with you...)
The dress is really cute. Remember how I used to read all the Little House books? I should get them for my girls.
Tami loved the Little House books and had all of them. They went back to Moscow with her last month for her girls. Her aunt in OR made her a black and pink calico dress that she thought of as LH dress.
Those horses sure look like fine specimens! How sad you didn't get to go on the sleigh ride. When we lived in Minnesota we were scheduled to take a moonlight horse drawn sleigh ride and it was canceled due to bad weather and we were so disappointed. Oh well.. maybe we can come and ride on one with ya'll someday.
